We’re excited to announce that our cafeteria is going green! PES has officially launched a composting program, helping our students learn how to reduce waste and take care of our planet. 💚
This initiative is led by one of our amazing custodians, Mr. Jase Woodland, who is teaching students how to properly sort compostable materials right in the cafeteria. Instead of adding to landfills, our food scraps will be turned into nutrient-rich compost and shared with local vendors to support Eastern Shore farms! 🚜🌾
A huge thank you to Mr. Woodland for leading this effort and to our students for doing their part to make a difference. Together, we’re building a greener future—one compost bin at a time! 🍎♻️

We would like to say thank you to our Preston Panther PTO for this amazing donation to our students! Thanks to their generosity, once again, all of our Panthers will be able to get a book at our winter book fair! Their support for our school is second to none, and it is through their efforts that so much is made possible for all of our students!
Our Preston Panther PTO has kicked off its annual major fundraiser to support all they do for Preston Elementary School. All proceeds from this fundraiser directly benefit the PTO, which then uses those funds to support PES and events like dances, book fair donations, Spring Fest, and much more. Please see the QR code on the flyers below to order. These flyers have come home with students as well. The final day to order is Friday, 2/28. Thank you!
Attention PES Families: Parent Day will be held on Friday, February 28th. Information letters will be sent home to parents this week with all students. This information will also be posted to our newsletter, Facebook page, and emailed to all families. The PES Safety Patrol is returning! Thank you to Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Porter for being the advisors for our new PES Safety Patrol! Today our 5th grade Panthers had an assembly with Mrs. Brown and Ms. Porter to discuss what the PES Safety Patrol is and how they can apply!
5th grade students have until March 7th to fill out the application and get a teacher letter of recommendation for consideration to become a member of the Safety Patrol. Tonight our 5th grade families also received an email with the application and an informational letter about the Safety Patrol.

This week, we shine our PES Educator Spotlight on Mrs. Keli Worm! Mrs. Worm is our Math Intervention Teacher at Preston Elementary School and has taught for 26 years! Mrs. Worm holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (certified in 1-6 and Middle)
and a Master of Education in Reading. Mrs. Worm also holds certification in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). Mrs. Worm is a member of our SIP Wellness Committee and assists with our Math Fluency Recognition program! Mrs. Worm plans to continue to help students develop a love for mathematics! We are so thankful that Mrs. Worm has made the Panther Pride Den her home! #PESEducators #PESPantherPride
Today we had special guests Amber Korell, Preston Town Manager, and Jennie Samuel, Preston Codes Clerk, speak to our 4th grade Panthers about this year's "If I were a Mayor" essay contest! Our 4th grade Panthers will have an opportunity to submit their essay into a statewide contest! Best of luck to all of our Panthers and thank you to the Town of Preston for providing this opportunity! #PESPantherPride
